As Checkmate 5.6 was designed to be web-centric, Geotab wanted to leverage all the best features and technologies available to us with modern web standards, such as HTML5 and CSS3. Because of this, several old web browsers are incapable of viewing Checkmate.

The following browsers are supported in Checkmate 5.6

    • Chrome version 15 or higher
    • Internet Explorer version 9 or higher
    • Firefox version 4 or higher

What if I am running an older version of Internet Explorer?

If you are running IE 7 or IE 8, you will be prompted to install Google ChromeFrame, which is a free and simple program that will allow you to run Checkmate 5.6 in your Internet Explorer. The install does not require any administrative rights and will prompt you automatically.

What is Chrome Frame?

Google Chrome Frame seamlessly enhances your browsing experience in Internet Explorer. It gives you access to the latest HTML5 features on compatible sites as well as Google Chrome’s performance and security features without in any way interrupting your usual browser usage.

My IT department prevents me from installing 3rd-party software on my computer. Can I still use Google Chrome Frame?

If you could previously run the desktop version of Checkmate, you can also run the Chrome Frame plug-in. The installer will fall back to an admin-free installation if you do not have administrator privileges on your desktop.

Will this break any websites I use?

No, only sites that opt-in to using Chrome Frame (like Checkmate) will use it. Other sites will appear as they usually do in Internet Explorer.
