If you are replacing an existing Geotab GPS tracking device with a new Geotab GPS tracking hardware device, use the method below and you can keep the name of the old vehicle name of  the old Geotab GPS hardware and also and preserve the Trips History of the old GPS hardware device.  If you do not use the method below and simply create a new vehicle name, assign the new serial number to the new vehicle name and delete the old vehicle name, you will lose all the historical information from the old device (vehicle name).
